Toy Fair 2015: Playskool Cutifies Jurassic World, Marvel Comics & Transformers

Let's face it...kids these days get all the fun toys. No trip to any store with a toy isle would be complete without a stroll down the Imaginext stacks....because that stuff...is awesome. Today, we'll check out a whole pile of Playskool Heroes toys featuring Marvel Comics and Transformers characters, and one mean but adorable looking T-Rex! We'll also check out the latest from our favorite spud, Mr. Potato Head, who is, as ever, the master of disguise.

Let's kick things off with a lone Jurassic World Playskool toy that just dropped into my email. The Tyrannosaurus Rex features lights and sounds...and surely a chomping action or else why bother, right? It also comes with a little hipster handler ready to lead him around and teach him about all the indie bands no one knows about. Actually..he kinda looks like Heisenberg. Take that, you fun-ruining mommies. HEISENBERG GOT A NEW JOB!!

Next we've got a full boat of Marvel Heroes, with all your favorites riding motorcycles, dune buggies and helicopters....just like in the comics!! (sarcasm) You'll note that one series has the currently available in stores looking figures while that Hulkbuster set features some cartoonier, and in my opinion, way better looking figs! This line might be about to get way more collectible. On tap are the usual suspects like Hulk, Spider-Man in a couple of costume changes, Captain America (sporting the Bucky-Cap look), Iron Man and "Marvel's" Falcon. We are told these are hitting stores now.

Transformers Rescue Bots have always had a fun feel with chunky, friendly looking robots aplenty...even when they are evil, world conquering despots! Today we'll check out Boulder the Constructicon, Heatwave the Fire-Bot and Elite Rescue Heatwave standing over 9 inches tall and packed with play features! Elite Rescue Heatwave is in stores now.

Now we'll spend some time with Mr. Potato Head! I always wonder if their are massive Potato Head fans out there with expansive rooms filled with merch released over the years. If you are out there and are reading this, I WANT TO SEE YOUR INSANE COLLECTION!!! Today we check out 2 deluxe sets that allow you to change from Iron Man to Stony Stark (note they dropped the Starch...which makes me sad) and Spider-Man to Peter Parker. We've got a Super Hero Collector pack featuring familiar heroes in outfits we don't see too often! Included are Captain America (that Bucky Cap outfit again), Iron Man (Silver Sentinel), Spider-Man (Black Symbiote Suit) and Wolverine (which could be his most current outfit..ya know..before he croaked).  Rounding out the Marvel offerings we've got a big Spider-Spud carrying case with a removable mask and room enough to stash all your favorite mini spuds. Note the teeth on the front open and close for easy access. We've also got two "normal" Mr. Potato Head pieces in "Beach Spudette" and "Pirate Spud". We'll note Pirate Spud comes with alternate tentacle arms, marking him as a minion of Cthulhu and therefore, our pick for best toy of the year.

  1. Any idea when the Mr Potato head spiderman carry case comes out....that is my son in one of the photos, hoping he is on the packaging. This is the only place I have seen it. We were told to just watch for the toy when we did the shoot.
